Description
Louis Latour Cuvée Latour Blanc is a Bourgogne Blanc from a house founded in 1797 and run by the same family across eleven generations, one of the most established names in Burgundy. The wine is pure Chardonnay from vineyards trained in single Guyot to keep the vines balanced and yields low, the approach that underpins ripe, clean fruit at this regional level. Burgundy's cool continental climate and its limestone and clay soils are what give white Chardonnay its combination of orchard fruit and firm acidity, with the chalk lending a fine mineral cut. This cuvée is fermented and held in stainless steel for around eight months and aged on its lees, with no oak, so the fruit stays fresh and precise while the lees add a subtle texture and a touch of bready depth. The colour is pale lemon. The nose is clean and direct, with lemon, green apple and pear over white flowers and a light almond note. The palate is dry and crisp, its citrus and orchard fruit carried by bright acidity and a fine, stony finish. Serve well chilled at 8 to 10 degrees.
