Louis Latour, an eleven-generation Burgundy house, makes this Côte de Nuits-Villages from Pinot Noir aged ten months in oak. It shows red cherry, raspberry and an earthy, forest-floor lift. A classic, food-friendly red Burgundy.
Description
Louis Latour is one of Burgundy's most established houses, now run by the eleventh generation of the family. This Côte de Nuits-Villages comes from the northern Côte d'Or, the limestone-rich slope that gives Pinot Noir its perfume, acidity and transparency to place. Farming follows respectful, sustainable practice. Pinot Noir is a thin-skinned, early-ripening grape that thrives on the cool-climate Jurassic limestone and marl here, holding fresh acidity and delicate tannins. The wine spends ten months in oak barrels, a measured élevage where gentle oxygen exchange through the wood softens the structure and adds a light spice and cedar frame without covering the fruit. Expect a bright ruby colour, a nose of red cherry and raspberry with rose, undergrowth and a touch of earth, and a medium-bodied palate with silky tannins, lively acidity and a clean, savoury finish. This is a classic Burgundy built around freshness and elegance rather than weight. Serve at 15 to 17 degrees, ideally from a wide Burgundy glass. A natural partner for poultry, game birds and mushrooms.
