A high-proof Guadeloupe single-plot blanc from Longueteau at 55%, all fresh sugarcane sap, lemon and tropical fruit with a green vegetal lift and a warm, peppery, citrus-edged finish, crisp, dry and unsweetened.
Description
Longueteau, founded in 1895, is the oldest family-owned agricole distillery still running in Guadeloupe, and its Selection Parcellaire line bottles rum from specific cane plots. This No.1 from the 2017 vintage is distilled from fresh-pressed sugar cane juice and bottled unsweetened at a vigorous 55%.
Distilled on column and presented as a blanc, it leads with the freshness that defines good cane juice: sugarcane sap, lemon and a vegetal, herbaceous lift on the nose, a palate of sugarcane, citrus and tropical fruit, and a warm, peppery, citrus-edged finish. The higher strength sharpens the cane character rather than blunting it, giving real snap and length. The parcel selection is about expressing a particular stretch of cane field, so the appeal lies in clean, terroir-driven detail. A bright, dry blanc that makes a punchy Ti Punch and rewards neat sipping for those who like agricole at full voice.
