Longueteau RSMA Cuvée des Bâtisseurs 2023

Longueteau is the oldest family-owned agricole distillery still running in Guadeloupe (since 1895), working at the Esperance estate, and this RSMA Cuvee des Batisseurs 2023 was made in partnership with the Regiment du Service Militaire Adapte, distilled from fresh-pressed sugarcane juice rather than molasses.

This is a powerful unaged blanc bottled at 60%, so the high proof carries plenty of cane intensity. The nose is round with lime, sugarcane and licorice, the palate stays citrussy and fresh with sugarcane and an oily texture, and the finish turns dry, peppery and oily. The strength is assertive and wants water to open up, after which the fresh, vegetal cane character comes through clearly. A bold, terroir-driven white for drinkers who want agricole at full volume.
