Longueteau Punch Maracudja

Longueteau is the oldest family-owned agricole distillery still running in Guadeloupe, dating to 1895, and this Punch Maracudja is its take on the island's beloved fruit punches. A 50% white cane-juice rhum is macerated for several weeks with maracudja, the Creole name for passion fruit, then bottled down at 25%.

This is unapologetically a sweetened, flavoured liqueur rather than a dry sipper, all ripe passion fruit and banana over a sugared body. The cane base keeps it from feeling artificial, but sweetness leads. Serve it well chilled, over ice or as a small digestif, where its tropical, fruity character is exactly the point. Honest holiday drinking, not a rum to judge by agricole purist standards.
