A single plot 2023 agricole from Longueteau, Guadeloupe’s oldest family distillery, distilled from fresh pressed cane juice on a creole column and bottled unaged at a vivid 55% to keep the grassy, peppery snap intact.
Description
Longueteau, founded in 1895, is the oldest family owned agricole distillery still running in Guadeloupe, and its Parcellaire series spotlights rum from a single named plot of cane. This 2023 release, No. 9, is made from fresh pressed sugar cane juice rather than molasses and distilled on a column still in the agricole manner.
Bottled at a brisk 55%, this is a cane juice blanc built to show terroir. Expect the house style of the island, grassy and herbaceous with fresh sugar cane sap, white pepper and a saline, vegetal snap, dry rather than sweet. It makes a natural base for a Ti Punch, where lime and a touch of sugar frame the cane character.
