Longueteau Genesis XO

Longueteau is the oldest family owned agricole distillery still running in Guadeloupe, founded in 1895, and this Genesis XO is its first cask strength expression in the line, a six year agricole bottled at a formidable 70.9%. Made from fresh pressed sugar cane juice rather than molasses, it shows what the house can do when nothing is held back on strength.

Matured in ex-bourbon oak and bottled unsweetened, it pairs the grassy, sugarcane backbone of agricole with a rich run of marzipan, praline, vanilla, caramel and nuts, while smoky oak and allspice add grip. Tropical ageing concentrates everything, so even at six years the wood feels developed and the fruit ripe and warm. At this proof it needs rest in the glass and a small pour, opening into a powerful yet well structured sipper for those who already enjoy high proof agricole.
