A high-strength Guadeloupe blanc from Longueteau, the island’s oldest family agricole house, fresh and mineral with sugarcane and a chili kick over demerara sugar and licorice, dry and lively at 50%.
Description
Longueteau, founded in 1895, is the oldest family-owned agricole distillery still running in Guadeloupe, working from fresh sugar cane juice under the island's IGP. This Classic Collection blanc is an unaged column-still rum bottled at a spirited 50%.
The spirit keeps the grassy, vegetal heart of cane juice, with a fresh, mineral nose of sugarcane lifted by a clean sweetness, then a palate that pairs cane and a touch of demerara sugar with licorice and a distinct chili heat. The finish stays on sugarcane and that peppery chili snap. Lively and dry rather than sweet, it is exactly the kind of blanc made for a Ti Punch, where lime and a little cane syrup frame its fresh, peppery character, though its strength carries it neat for those who like the snap of young agricole.
