Description
Gordon & MacPhail of Elgin, founded 1895, long held some of the deepest Longmorn reserves. This 57 Year Old, a 1961 vintage from cask 508, is a Private Collection sibling to cask 512, an outturn of 100 bottles matured in Oloroso and European oak.
Fifty-seven years in sherried European oak built profound depth, the cask's higher tannin and melanoidins lending dried fruit and a polished, nutty grip.
At 45% it shows deep dried fruit and oak spice over the worn Longmorn richness, the poise of nearly six decades. A 1961 Private Collection rarity.
