A mature 22 Year Old Long Pond at 56.2%, dry and grown up with tropical fruit, leather, lacquer and heavy oak spice, an aged, contemplative take on high ester Jamaican funk.
Description
Another Plantation Extreme No. 3 from Maison Ferrand, this is Long Pond HJC from 1996, bottled at 22 years and 56.2%. Long Pond is the historic Wedderburn house in Trelawny, and this older expression shows its funky, fruit forward character matured into something more restrained.
It is pure pot still rum from molasses, aged in Ex-Bourbon oak to a dry, woody profile. Tropical fruit and solvent funk remain, but they share the glass with leather, lacquer, red fruits and a heavy load of oak spice and clove, finishing peppery and long. Bottled at cask strength without added sugar, it trades the wild edge of younger Long Pond for dryness and structure, a grown up, contemplative pour for drinkers who like aged Jamaican funk with serious wood behind it.
