Description
Orchard & Oak is part of Lochlea's Single Estate range, here setting the distillery's own-barley spirit against fresh virgin American oak alongside ex-Bourbon. The name points to the fruit-and-wood balance.
Virgin American oak gives generously and fast, fresh lignin lending strong vanilla and hemicellulose caramelising to a sweet, spicy toffee, the ex-Bourbon rounding it.
At 46% it shows orchard fruit framed by fresh-oak vanilla and a sweet spice, the wood more present than in the core malt. A Single Estate release.
