This 8 Year Old is a travel retail Loch Lomond given a Madeira finish, a younger core spirit dressed up by the fortified-wine cask. The distillery's balanced make takes a sweeter, fruitier turn here.
Eight years in oak followed by a finish in Madeira, whose baked, oxidised wine lends candied fruit and a burnt-sugar tang to the light spirit.
At 46% it shows chocolate, fresh fruit and vanilla with a glasshouse-green note, the Madeira's candied sweetness over the top. A young Madeira-finished Loch Lomond.
