This 44 Year Old was distilled in 1966, Loch Lomond's very first year of operation, and bottled at the gentle 40%, an outturn of 1,640 bottles. A landmark survivor from the distillery's beginning.
Forty-four years in ex-Bourbon matured the light spirit to a deep old age, the low-tannin oak lending vanilla as the angel's share thinned the cask to 40% over the decades, alcohol leaving faster than water in the humid warehouse.
At 40% it shows citrus and fresh fruit over the worn, gentle maturity of great age. A first-year 1966 Loch Lomond.
