Lo Vilero is a rare single varietal of Escursac, an almost forgotten Mallorcan grape, made by Eloi Cerdà on the island. Light and low in alcohol, six months in barrel, it offers fresh strawberry, cherry and a herbal Mediterranean lift.

Description
Lo Vilero comes from Eloi Cerdà's Sistema Vinari on Mallorca and is one of very few wines made from Escursac, a nearly extinct indigenous variety being recovered on the island. It is light skinned and naturally low in alcohol, here just eleven and a half percent, giving a delicate, fresh style in keeping with the Mediterranean spirit of low intervention Mallorcan wine. The island's calcareous soils and the warm, sea cooled climate ripen the fruit gently while keeping acidity bright. The wine is farmed and made naturally, fermented with native yeast and aged six months in used barrels that round the texture without adding oak flavour, leaving the fruit and herbs to lead. The colour is pale, light red. The nose is fresh strawberry and red cherry with redcurrant, wild herbs and a floral note. The palate is light bodied and refreshing, with fine tannin, lively acidity and a clean, savoury finish that reflects the limestone. This is a red built to drink cool and young. Serve at 13 to 15 degrees with white meat, grilled fish or a herb dressed salad.
