LMDW Neisson Armada – Drop by Drop

This Armada bottling pairs the small Neisson family distillery in Martinique with La Maison du Whisky, the respected Paris house, for its Drop by Drop selection. Neisson works the AOC way from fresh pressed sugar cane juice with no added sugar, and the Armada line draws on its oldest, richest stocks, here married together into a layered, mature expression.

The nose is deep and savoury, tobacco, wood, caramel and mocha, while the palate brings chocolate, more tobacco, wood and candied fruit, the finish lingering on honey, dark chocolate, candied fruit and a thread of sugarcane tying it back to its origins. It drinks richly, the marriage of older vintages giving real balance and depth across the glass. Bottled at 45.4% and unsweetened in the agricole tradition, it is a deep, contemplative cane juice rum from one of Martinique's most admired houses, a sipper that rewards time and quiet attention.
