Description
Malts of Scotland bottles single casks at natural strength from its German base. Filled in 1990 and bottled in 2025, the whisky is a 35 year old Littlemill, from cask MoS 25041, in the Rare Casks range. An outturn this small from a distillery that closed in 1994 puts it among the rarest Lowland whisky still available.
Held in ex-Bourbon for thirty-five years, the oak settles Littlemill's floral, fruity character.
At 50.7%, undiluted, soft vanilla and oak come from the ex-Bourbon. Buttery vanilla and orchard fruit, classic Littlemill. The refill ex-Bourbon gives up vanillin and lactones slowly, framing the light spirit with vanilla and coconut rather than swamping it. After so long, much of the cask has gone to evaporation, the surviving spirit slowly dropping in strength as alcohol outpaces water in the humid air.
