Description
The Vintage Malt Whisky Company is a Glasgow independent behind the Finlaggan and Cooper's Choice lines. This 31 year old Littlemill, from cask 3901 came off the stills in 1984 and was bottled in 2016, from The Cooper's Choice range. These are the last of Littlemill, a closed distillery's stock dwindling toward nothing.
Aged thirty-one years in ex-Bourbon, the oak lifts Littlemill's elegant Lowland character.
Bottled at cask strength, 48.5%, vanilla rises from the ex-Bourbon over the soft fruit. Expect a fragrant note. Slow extraction from low-tannin American oak gives vanilla and a creamy sweetness without ever overpowering the make. Decades of slow evaporation have softened the strength and concentrated the fruit, the price of great age in a damp warehouse.
