Description
The Vintage Malt Whisky Company is a Glasgow independent behind the Finlaggan and Cooper's Choice lines. Distilled in 1984 and bottled in 2015, this is a 30 year old Littlemill, from cask 3904, from The Cooper's Choice range. No spirit has flowed at Bowling since 1992, leaving only the casks already filled.
From an ex-Bourbon cask, thirty years draw out Littlemill's light, buttery Lowland spirit.
At 49%, undiluted, the American oak adds vanilla over the orchard fruit. The profile runs to dried fruit, old wood, cooked fruit, a savoury note, an oily texture. The oak's vanillin and wood sugars lend vanilla and light toffee, the spirit's own esters bringing the fruit. The years have drawn off much of the cask, alcohol faster than water in the Scottish damp, leaving this mature, gentle remainder.
