Description
Ian Macleod Distillers, the family firm behind Glengoyne and Tamdhu, bottles single casks under its Chieftain's and Dun Bheagan labels. Distilled in 1990 and bottled in 2019, this is a 28 year old Littlemill, from cask 103514, from the Chieftain's range. The distillery is gone, so what survives in cask is all there will ever be.
Ex-Bourbon and twenty-eight years round the fragrant Lowland character.
Bottled undiluted at 53.8%, the American oak lends vanilla and a buttery note. Grassy, honeyed and softly floral to the close. Slow extraction from low-tannin American oak gives vanilla and a creamy sweetness without ever overpowering the make. Great age in a dunnage warehouse means the angel's share has taken much of the cask and gently lowered the strength, concentrating what remains.
