Description
The Vintage Malt Whisky Company, a Glasgow family firm, bottles the Cooper's Choice single casks. This 28 year old Littlemill, from cask 6164 was distilled in 1985 and bottled in 2013, in The Cooper's Choice range. Silent since 1992 and demolished in 2005, Littlemill exists now only in the casks that remain.
Twenty-eight years in a refill bourbon cask keep Littlemill's soft orchard-fruit spirit bright.
Bottled at 46%, the American oak frames the fruit with vanilla. Expect grassy freshness, honey and a creamy vanilla sweetness. Hemicellulose in the toasted oak caramelises to a light butterscotch, lignin breakdown lending vanilla. After so long, much of the cask has gone to evaporation, the surviving spirit slowly dropping in strength as alcohol outpaces water in the humid air.
