Description
Scotland's oldest independent, Cadenhead's has selected casks since 1842 and is owned by the Springbank family. This 27 year old Littlemill was distilled in 1991 and bottled in 2018. So few bottles and no possibility of more place this among the scarcest survivors of the Lowland's lost distilleries.
From an ex-Bourbon cask, twenty-seven years draw out the soft, floral Littlemill make.
At 50.4%, undiluted, vanilla and pale oak from the ex-Bourbon. A delicate, floral character, silky and gently sweet. American oak is low in tannin, so the cask works gently, hemicellulose caramelising to light toffee and lignin yielding vanilla. After so long, much of the cask has gone to evaporation, the surviving spirit slowly dropping in strength as alcohol outpaces water in the humid air.
