Description
The Vintage Malt Whisky Company, a Glasgow family firm, bottles the Cooper's Choice single casks. This 27 year old Littlemill, from cask 110 came off the stills in 1985 and was bottled in 2012, in The Cooper's Choice range. Every release draws down a finite store that can never be replenished.
Time in ex-Bourbon, twenty-seven years of it, frames Littlemill's floral, fruity character.
At 46%, the ex-Bourbon lends vanilla and a creamy oak note. Light, floral and buttery, the lost distillery's hallmark. American oak is low in tannin, so the cask works gently, hemicellulose caramelising to light toffee and lignin yielding vanilla. At such an age the spirit has given freely to the angels, the strength easing as the flavour deepens.
