Description
Britain's oldest wine and spirits merchant, Berry Bros & Rudd has bottled whisky for over a century. Distilled in 1988, this 25 year old Littlemill, from cask 57 was bottled in 2014, in the Berrys' range. A finite legacy from a vanished distillery, growing rarer with each bottling.
From an ex-Bourbon cask, twenty-five years draw out its creamy-fudge Lowland sweetness.
At 46%, a vanilla sweetness comes from the bourbon cask. Buttery vanilla and orchard fruit, classic Littlemill. Slow extraction from low-tannin American oak gives vanilla and a creamy sweetness without ever overpowering the make. After so long, much of the cask has gone to evaporation, the surviving spirit slowly dropping in strength as alcohol outpaces water in the humid air.
