Description
Britain's oldest wine and spirits merchant, Berry Bros & Rudd has bottled whisky for over a century. This bottling is a 25 year old Littlemill, from cask 33, laid down in 1988 and drawn off in 2014, from the Berrys' range. These are the last of Littlemill, a closed distillery's stock dwindling toward nothing.
Twenty-five years in ex-Bourbon lend a light oak frame to Littlemill's gentle Lowland character.
At 46%, a vanilla sweetness comes from the bourbon cask. The mature Lowland elegance shows, floral and fine. The bourbon cask's lactones read as coconut and the lignin vanillin as vanilla, gentle on a light Lowland spirit. Decades of slow evaporation have softened the strength and concentrated the fruit, the price of great age in a damp warehouse.
