Description
Berry Bros & Rudd has traded from No. 3 St James's Street in London since 1698, Britain's oldest wine and spirits merchant. Distilled in 1992, this 21 year old Littlemill, from cask 13 was bottled in 2014, part of the Berrys' series. With the distillery demolished and no new spirit possible, every bottle is drawn from a pool that only shrinks.
From an ex-Bourbon cask, twenty-one years draw out Littlemill's light, vanilla-laced make.
Bottled undiluted at 53.2%, the ex-Bourbon adds vanilla and a honeyed oak note. The Lowland softness shows, floral and lightly fruity. American oak is low in tannin, so the cask works gently, hemicellulose caramelising to light toffee and lignin yielding vanilla.
