Description
Fred Laing founded Douglas Laing in Glasgow in 1948, and the third generation runs it still. A 19 year old Littlemill, this was distilled in 1990 and bottled in 2009, part of the Old & Rare - The Platinum Selection series. Littlemill can never be made again, so each cask emptied is one fewer forever.
A bourbon barrel and nineteen years settle the fragrant Lowland character.
At its natural 55.4%, the American oak frames the fruit with vanilla. Grassy, honeyed and softly floral to the close. Oak lactones and lignin-derived vanillin build the vanilla-and-coconut signature, the gentle American-oak tannins keeping it soft.
