Remelluri’s Lindes range comes from a cooler, elevated corner of San Vicente de la Sonsierra in Rioja. This biodynamic Tempranillo and Garnacha blend, aged twelve months in oak, shows red berries, dried herbs and a floral, earthy character true to the high site.
Description
Remelluri is a respected family winery in Rioja Alavesa, and Lindes de Remelluri draws on growers in distinct villages of the appellation. The Viñedos de Peciña bottling comes from a cooler, higher area of San Vicente de la Sonsierra, where altitude and the influence of the Sierra de Toloño bring greater diurnal range. Warm days and cold nights slow ripening and lock in acidity and aromatic detail, giving the wine its freshness and lift. The vineyards are farmed biodynamically, and the blend of Tempranillo and Garnacha is aged for twelve months in oak. That measured ageing rounds the tannins through slow oxygen exchange and adds a light frame of spice without burying the fruit, keeping the emphasis on site rather than wood. The wine is bright ruby. The nose is floral and fragrant, with red berries, cherry, dried herbs and a clear earthy, mineral edge from the elevated terrain. The palate is medium bodied and fresh, the fine tannin and bright acidity carrying a savoury, herbal finish. Serve at sixteen to eighteen degrees with roast lamb, grilled red meat or mushroom dishes.
