A 15 year old El Salvador rum from Cihuatan, column distilled and aged in ex-bourbon oak, openly sweetened and aromatic with marzipan, almond, honey, milk chocolate and coffee over floral oak at 47.5%.
Description
Nikte is a limited edition from Licorera Cihuatan in El Salvador, a 15 year old rum bottled at 47.5%. Cihuatan has built a name for elegant, aromatic rums with a clear sense of style, and this leans into a distinctive marzipan-and-chocolate profile that sets it apart from the usual caramel-led crowd.
The spirit is column distilled and aged in ex-bourbon oak, and the copy will be straight that it is sweetened. The nose is striking, with marzipan, almond, honey and vanilla, while the palate brings milk chocolate, dark chocolate, spice and a floral lift over a sweet body, finishing on roasted coffee and cocoa. It reads as a dessert rum, soft and perfumed rather than dry, with a touch more strength and character than the gentlest Spanish-style sippers. A distinctive after-dinner pour for drinkers who enjoy sweeter, aromatic rum and want a marzipan-chocolate twist on the familiar honeyed style.
