Description
Licor 43, or Cuarenta y Tres, is made in Cartagena from a family recipe named for its forty three ingredients, a blend of exotic fruits, citrus and aromatic herbs finished with a hint of vanilla, and it is the best selling liqueur in Spain. This limited Chocolate edition builds on that base, folding cocoa and dark chocolate into the golden, vanilla led spirit and bottling it at 16%.
The nose is complex, fruity and spicy with notes of chocolate, the palate carrying vanilla, Mediterranean citrus fruits, spices and cocoa over a long finish. Behind the bar it works as a sweet, chocolate and vanilla modifier, adding dessert richness and aromatic citrus lift to a drink without the bitterness of a true cacao liqueur. It pours neat over ice, sweetens a creamy after dinner cocktail, or deepens an espresso martini riff toward chocolate. Serve it chilled or on ice to show its harmonious, dessert leaning character.
