A sixteen year single cask Belize rum from Travellers, bottled by Levy Lane at cask strength 58.6% from a 2006 vintage, naturally rich with coconut, berries, oak and toasted nougat over a peppery, cinnamon finish.
Description
Tamosi Obano-Oyo 2006 is a single cask of Travellers rum from Belize, distilled in 2006 and selected by independent bottler Levy Lane, matured sixteen years in an ex-bourbon barrel and bottled at full cask strength of 58.6%. Travellers is the heart of Belizean rum, known for a soft, coconut-rich, naturally sweet-tasting profile that gains depth with long ageing.
This bottling shows that character with extra maturity. The nose carries oak, red berries, coconut and maracuja, the palate builds berries, coconut and toasted oak, and the finish runs long with green pepper, cinnamon and a cappuccino note. Tasters describe sandalwood, nougat, milk chocolate and a faintly tarry, dirty edge that adds interest. The sweetness here reads as the cask and tropical ageing rather than additives, and the proof gives it weight without harshness. It is a generous, confident aged Belize single cask that rewards an unhurried glass.
