Foursquare, run by Richard Seale at Four Roads in St Philip, is among the most respected names in Caribbean rum, known for its pot and column single blends and a strict no additives stance. This independent bottling from Levy Lane is a single cask distilled in 2006, matured eighteen years in ex-bourbon oak and presented unsweetened at cask strength of 56.7%. Aged Foursquare in the house style typically shows toffee, brown sugar, ripe banana, vanilla and warm baking spice over a balanced medium body, with oak that grows firmer at this kind of age and proof. Bottled dry and at full strength, this is an authentic, island aged Bajan rum that lets the distillate and the long maturation speak without any sweetening.
