A 17 Year Old Venezuelan single cask from 2005, finished in Armagnac and bottled at 61.9% by Levy Lane, big and dry with woody caramel, tobacco, coffee, dark chocolate and firm tannins.
Description
Tamosi is a powerful Venezuelan single cask bottled by Levy Lane, distilled from molasses on a column still at C.A.D.C and drawn from a 2005 vintage. An Armagnac finish gives it an unusual grape brandy edge, and at full strength it pushes the smooth Venezuelan style into far bolder, more structured territory than the dessert leaning blends the country is known for.
The nose shows vanilla, spice, tobacco and caramel, leading to a palate of thick, woody caramel, vanilla, leather and oak, then a finish of dark chocolate, nuts, roast and spice. Seventeen years bring noticeable tannin and roasted depth, and the Armagnac cask lands it somewhere between armagnac and bourbon in feel. This is a serious, dry, full proof rum for experienced palates who enjoy woody, spicy intensity in the Foursquare mould and are ready for the grip that 61.9% delivers.
