Description
Le Clos des Fées produces Les Sorcières Blanc as a Vin de Pays des Côtes Catalanes, from a blend of Grenache Blanc, Macabeo, Roussanne and Vermentino. The estate belongs to Hervé Bizeul and his wife Claudine, who began in 1995 with eight hectares and have grown it by taking on small recovered and characterful plots across Roussillon. This white draws on the region's warm, dry Mediterranean climate, tempered by the cooling Tramontane wind and the influence of altitude and coast, which lets the fruit ripen fully while keeping enough freshness for balance. The blend is built for texture and lift, Grenache Blanc and Roussanne for body and stone fruit, Macabeo for freshness and Vermentino for its aromatic, saline edge. It is vinified young without heavy oak, preserving the fruit and the wine's mineral cut. The colour is pale straw with green highlights. The nose is fresh and floral, white peach and melon over white flowers and citrus peel. The palate is rounded and smooth, with pear and a herbal, savoury note, carried on gentle acidity to a clean finish. At 12.5% it stays approachable and fresh. Serve at 10 to 12 degrees.
