Description
L'Enclòs de Peralba is a small project in Penedès, Catalonia, run by Roc and Leo Gramona, the sixth generation of the Gramona family better known for sparkling wine. The focus here is native varieties, biodynamic and organic farming and minimal intervention winemaking. Garnacha Blanca suits this Mediterranean setting: it is a thick skinned, late ripening white grape that holds ripeness and texture in a warm climate while retaining orchard fruit definition. Low intervention in the cellar means the wine keeps the fruit and phenolic grip the skins carry, with lees contact adding weight across the middle palate rather than overt oak character. The result is medium bodied and dry. It is pale gold in the glass, with white peach, pear and a herbal lift on the nose and a touch of white flowers. The palate is textured and rounded, carrying almond and lemon through to a saline, gently bitter close that keeps it fresh. Serve at 10 to 12 degrees in a standard white glass.

Additional information
Pour it with grilled sea bass, garlic prawns or a plate of roast chicken with herbs. The saline, almond edge also suits salads with fennel and citrus, and it has enough weight for a mild seafood rice.
