Description
Legaris Reserva is a pure Tinto Fino, the local Tempranillo, from D.O. Ribera del Duero, made by Legaris within the Codorníu group. Ribera del Duero lies on the high Castilian plateau, where a continental climate gives hot days and cold nights. That wide swing between day and night temperature is the key to the region, ripening the fruit fully while cold nights lock in acidity and deep colour, producing structured, age-worthy reds. The wine is aged thirteen months in new French oak from different cooperages, with varying grain and toast levels, a deliberate use of barrels chosen to layer in a range of spice and texture rather than a single oak note. New oak also adds firm structure and tannin that knit with the grape's own grip. After bottling the wine rests further in the cellar before release. The colour is deep cherry with garnet highlights. The nose shows ripe black plum and cherry, sweet oak spice, liquorice and cocoa. The palate is full and structured at 14.5% alcohol, with firm, ripe tannin, dark fruit and a long, spiced finish. Serve at 17 to 18 degrees, decanted. Best with rich roasts.
