Bodegas Antídoto makes this terroir driven rosé in San Esteban de Gormaz, the high continental edge of Ribera del Duero. Blending Albillo and Tinto Fino and aged eight months in oak, it is dry and structured, with orange peel, white peach and a saline mineral finish.
Description
Le Rosé de Antídoto is made by Bodegas Antídoto in San Esteban de Gormaz, in Soria, the most continental corner of Ribera del Duero. The project sets out to make a serious rosé built for depth and ageing rather than a simple summer wine. It blends the white Albillo with the local red Tinto Fino, a Tempranillo strain, grown at altitude where the climate is harsh and the daily temperature swing is wide, slowing ripening and locking in acidity and aromatic detail. The poor, stony soils give low yields and concentration. After a gentle pressing the wine spends eight months in oak barrels, where slow oxygen exchange and lees contact build texture and a savoury, almost vinous complexity while keeping the wine bone dry. The colour is a striking coppery orange. The nose shows fresh orange peel, white peach and red berries over dried herbs and a nutty, leesy note, and the palate is dry, textured and structured with a long saline finish. Serve at around 10 to 12 degrees in a white wine glass, and treat it like a light red at the table with roast poultry, pork or mushrooms.
