Description
Le Coste Litrozzo Rosso is a youthful natural red from Lazio, blending Sangiovese, Ciliegiolo and Merlot. The estate was founded in 2004 by Gianmarco Antonuzzi and Clementine Bouveron beside the volcanic Lake Bolsena in northern Lazio, where they farm fourteen hectares organically among vines, olive trees and woodland. The volcanic soils are free draining and mineral rich, and combined with lake moderated cool nights they give bright, red fruited wines with high natural acidity. This is made as a natural wine with minimal intervention, so the fresh, direct fruit is the focus rather than oak or heavy structure. At 10.5 per cent it is deliberately light in alcohol and body. Colour is bright, light ruby. The nose shows fresh cherry, red berries and a rhubarb tang over a light earthy note, and the palate is juicy and crunchy, with low tannin, lively acidity and a clean, savoury finish. It is bottled in a one litre format for easy drinking and takes a light chill well. Serve at 13 to 15 degrees. It suits casual food and antipasti.
