Latitudes O Reizinho Rhum Agricole

This O Reizinho rum is bottled by Latitudes from the small Madeira producer, where cane-juice rum qualifies for the agricole label alongside the French islands. Distilled from fresh sugarcane juice on a column still and bottled at 45%, it sits in a sweet spot of intensity, fresh and characterful without going to full overproof aggression.

The nose leads on sugarcane and a fresh, vegetal lift with that agricole signature, the palate turning savoury with green olive, a saline edge and more cane. The finish brings a fruity raspberry note, grass and a minty close, the freshness and snap of good cane juice running throughout. The added-sugar status is unstated, but the style reads dry and lively. A bright, fruit-and-olive agricole-style white, at home neat or in a Ti' Punch where the fresh cane drives the drink.
