Description
Las Alas de Frontonio La Tejera 2021 is a red from Aragón, Spain, blending Garnacha with a portion of Macabeo, made by Bodegas Frontonio, the project of Fernando Mora MW and Mario López based in Épila. The fruit comes from high-altitude mountain vineyards, where cool nights and a wide diurnal swing slow ripening, holding the freshness, floral aromatics and red-fruited detail that mark this elegant, savoury style of Garnacha. Co-fermenting a white grape, Macabeo, with the red Garnacha lifts the aromatics and adds a citrus and floral note while softening the texture. The wine is aged for 14 months in foudres, large old oak vessels that allow slow oxygen exchange and gentle softening of the tannins without adding obvious oak flavour, keeping the focus on fruit and place. The wine is a bright, light to medium red. The nose shows fresh red fruit, mandarin peel and white flowers, with a savoury, herbal undertone. The palate is fresh and structured, with fine tannin, lively acidity and a long, mineral finish. Serve at 15 to 17 degrees. It suits roast lamb and game birds.
