Description
L'Archetipo is a family estate in Castellaneta, in the heart of Puglia, founded by Francesco Valentino Dibenedetto and farmed by synergistic agriculture, a system that goes beyond organic and biodynamic certification. This litre bottle is built for daily drinking, a blend of Montepulciano, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Primitivo and Susumaniello from the IGT Salento zone. Salento is the flat, sun-baked heel of Italy, where warm Mediterranean days ripen fruit fully while sea breezes keep the wines fresh. Raised entirely in stainless steel rather than oak, the wine keeps its primary fruit and bright character, the cool fermentation and reductive handling protecting aroma. The colour is bright ruby. The nose is open and fruity, with red cherry, plum and a touch of black pepper over a herbal, earthy base. The palate is medium bodied and juicy, with soft tannin, ripe red fruit and a savoury, peppery finish. At 13 percent it stays approachable and versatile. Serve lightly cooled at 14 to 16 degrees with pizza, pasta and grilled vegetables, or simply on its own.
