Description
Domaine l'Anglore sits in Tavel, on the right bank of the Rhone between Avignon and the Pont du Gard, where Eric Pfifferling farms biodynamically alongside his wife Marie and their sons Joris and Thibault. Nizon is a single-variety Grenache made with minimal intervention. Tavel's sandy soils and rolled galets drain freely and warm the vines, while the dry southern climate and the mistral keep the fruit clean and ripe. To keep this cuvee light and fresh, it is fermented on wild yeast with no added sulphur and raised in stainless steel rather than wood, which preserves bright, primary fruit and a mineral cut. The colour is a pale, translucent red. The nose shows red berries and cherry, with a floral, herbal lift. The palate is juicy, light and aromatic, with soft tannins, fresh acidity and a clean, savoury finish. At 14 per cent it stays supple and drinkable. Serve cool, at 13 to 15 degrees. It suits charcuterie, roast pork and poultry, and drinks well on its own.
