Description
L'Anglore is Eric Pfifferling's domaine in Tavel in the southern Rhône, farmed biodynamically and made in a natural style with little or no added sulphur. La Montagne blends Cinsault with Grenache, two southern Rhône grapes well suited to light, fragrant reds, grown on the warm stony soils of the area and bottled as Vin de France for the freedom it gives outside the appellation rules. Cinsault brings perfume and lightness, Grenache brings round red fruit, and the gentle, low-extraction handling keeps tannin to a minimum so the wine stays bright and easy at 12%. The colour is light and the nose shows fresh red fruits with a hint of spice and a floral edge. The palate is light bodied and juicy, with crunchy acidity, fine tannin and a clean, savoury finish. Serve it lightly chilled, around 13 to 14C, in a Burgundy glass. It is a flexible food wine, good with charcuterie, roast pork, poultry and summer salads.
