Description
Langlois-Chateau works in Saumur in the Loire Valley and has been part of the Bollinger group since 1973. This Cremant de Loire is made by the traditional method, the same process as Champagne, from a blend led by Chenin Blanc with Chardonnay and Cabernet Franc. After a first fermentation in stainless steel the wine undergoes its second fermentation in bottle and rests at least twelve months on the lees, which builds a fine mousse and a gentle bready complexity. It is finished dry in the brut style.
The wine is light golden yellow with a fine, persistent perlage. The nose shows green apple, ripe pear and lemon over white flowers and a hint of brioche. The palate is fresh and elegant, with balanced acidity, delicate citrus and a dry, mineral finish that keeps it clean and moreish. Serve at 6 to 8 degrees in a white wine glass. It is a versatile aperitif and pairs well with oysters, smoked salmon, goat's cheese and light fish dishes.
