Description
This 16 Years Old was bottled for Feis Ile 2010, distilled in 1994 and drawn from European oak cask 3210, an outturn of 528 bottles. Lagavulin was founded in 1816 at Lagavulin Bay, between neighbours Laphroaig and Ardbeg.
Lagavulin's heavily peated spirit is distilled slowly through its pear-shaped stills. Matured in a single European oak cask at full strength, the sherry-seasoned wood wraps the smoke in dried fruit.
52.7%, the cask's own strength. Peat phenols and guaiacol carry the smoke, the European oak adding fig and raisin with a walnut dryness. A sherried festival single cask Lagavulin.
