Description
This undiluted 12 Years Old was the 2004 Special Release. Lagavulin sits at Lagavulin Bay on Islay's south shore, founded in 1816 and famed for its heavily peated malt.
Lagavulin's heavily peated spirit is distilled slowly through its pear-shaped stills. Bottled undiluted after twelve years in ex-Bourbon, it offers a fierce coastal smoke.
Bottled without dilution at 58.2%. The smoke owes to guaiacol and phenols, the ex-Bourbon adding vanilla. The recorded note is a kippery maritime edge. A cask strength Special Release.
