Description
This cask strength 12 Years Old was a 2002 Special Release for Europe, among the first of the annual undiluted 12s. Lagavulin sits on the Kildalton shore of southern Islay, founded in 1816, its 16 already a Classic Malts icon by this point.
Onion-shaped stills and a slow run give Lagavulin its weight. Bottled undiluted after twelve years in ex-Bourbon, it offers a sharper, younger smoke than the 16.
Bottled at full strength, 58%. Guaiacol and cresols carry the smoke, the ex-Bourbon adding vanilla. An early cask strength Special Release.
