Description
Ladyburn, a Lowland malt distillery inside the Girvan grain distillery in Ayrshire, lasted just nine years from 1966 to 1975. Cask 1590, a 1973 vintage, was bottled at twenty-seven years old in 2000 for Europe.
Ladyburn was only ever two pairs of pot stills in the Girvan complex, its spirit made for Grant's blends rather than bottled alone. Over twenty-seven years the ex-Bourbon cask coaxed wax and soft fruit from a spirit that started out lean and oily.
At its full natural strength of 50.4%. The ex-Bourbon wood gives vanilla and coconut with a toffee edge, over the oily, waxy aged malt. A scarce single cask from a nine-year Lowland ghost distillery.
