Description
Oldmoor was a Grant's blended malt label built around Ladyburn, here an 8 year old bottling for Italy, a rare chance to taste the malt relatively young. Ladyburn was a Lowland malt distillery inside the Girvan grain works in Ayrshire, open just nine years from 1966.
Rather than a distillery in its own right, Ladyburn was a set of four stills within the Girvan plant, making malt for Grant's blends. Matured in ex-Bourbon, the wood frames a young version of this lost malt.
Bottled at 40%. Vanillin from the ex-Bourbon reads as vanilla, oak lactones as coconut, maltol as toffee over the oily Ladyburn character. A young blended-malt glimpse of a ghost distillery.
