Description
This Batch 2 release is a 40 Years Old distilled in 1974 and bottled in 2015, a rare old Ladyburn, an outturn of 1,250 bottles. Ladyburn was a Lowland malt within the Girvan grain complex on the Ayrshire coast, running only from 1966 to 1975 before it was torn down.
Ladyburn was never its own distillery, just four pot stills tucked into the Girvan site, its malt destined for Grant's blends. Forty years in refill ex-Bourbon built a thick, waxy depth, the old oak well forward over honeyed fruit.
Bottled at 41.9%. The ex-Bourbon lends vanilla through vanillin, coconut through oak lactones, and toffee from maltol over an oily, waxy aged depth. A rare old Ladyburn from a nine-year ghost distillery.
