Description
L'Abeille de Fieuzal is the second label of Château de Fieuzal, a historic estate in the Pessac-Léognan appellation of Bordeaux. The wine is a classic left bank blend led by Merlot, with Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Pessac-Léognan sits on deep gravel soils that drain well and store daytime heat, helping the Cabernet ripen fully and lending the wines their characteristic earthy, mineral signature. The maritime climate brings a long, even growing season that builds structure without heaviness. The wine ages for 12 months in French oak barrels, where slow oxygen exchange softens the tannins and adds cedar, cocoa and a light vanilla spice. The colour is deep red. The nose shows redcurrant and plum with tobacco, cocoa and a gravelly, earthy note that marks the appellation. The palate is medium-bodied and structured, with firm but fine tannins and a fresh, savoury finish. This is a wine to drink now or hold a few years. Serve at 17 degrees, decanted, with roast and grilled meats.
